What is the Tesla Powerwall?

In the last 5 years the UK has had a major focus on trying to cut down on emissions. They are constantly new and exciting ways to use energy in an environmentally friendly way and they’re becoming more and more affordable. One of the big incentives for using eco-friendly energy sources is to cut down on bills. What is the Tesla Powerwall and how can it save money and store your energy (even in a power-cut!).

What is the Tesla Powerwall 3?

The Tesla Powerwall 3 is a compact, sleek and minimal home battery that stores energy. It stores energy from the grid or solar energy meaning that it can be accessed by many people. It’s designed for home use and can easily power your household appliances.

How much is it?

Like many energy resources the initial price is always a bit daunting. The starting price for the Tesla Powerwall on average is £7,000 – this doesn’t include labour costs or solar PV. The Powerwall should be thought of as an investment where over time you would make back that initial cost and more.

Is it weather proof?

Yes! Tesla Powerwall can withstand all harsh weather conditions including cold temperatures, high humidity and even flooding in 0.6 metres of water. This is great as it means that in the winter you don’t have to worry about where your energy for heating is coming from.

What about power-cuts?

The Tesla Powerwall has your back and is smarter than you think. When severe weather is forecast the Powerwall automatically charges to maximum capacity to prepare for a potential power-cut. If you are using solar PV it will keep it running, and if you are on the grid it will move over to your stored energy.

Can I choose when to use stored energy?

You can save money and reduce your reliance on the grid with Tesla Powerwall’s Time-Based Control. Powerwall automatically discharges stored energy during peak hours, taking advantage of variable rate plans to minimize your energy costs.
