The importance of Health and Safety in Solar Panel Installation

Health and Safety has been in the news recently for renewable energy companies, and not for good reasons. Back in November last year, Jack Phillips lost his life during a job (more information here). No matter the size of the job, DMH Electrical and Renewables is committed to keeping ourselves and our clients safe during every project we undertake.

Installing Solar PV safely

Health and Safety in a project are paramount for us, so we undergo a thorough risk assessment on every house we work on. With Solar Panel installations, we need scaffolding to get to rooftops. These are regularly checked for cracks and breakages, informing homeowners of the times that it will be up. It’s also important for us to assess whether the weather conditions are suitable for working on rooftops. If some heavy winds or conditions could pose a threat to our Safety or those around us. If clients have any issues with an aspect of our equipment or safety protocol, we are happy to discuss this with them at any point during the work.

Electrical Safety

DMH undergo a lot of electrical services in County Durham and the Teesside areas. We ensure that, whether looking at a network or installing CCTV, there are no risks of starting an electrical fire or any danger to the client after we’ve completed the work. Ensuring that we are using new and unused wiring ensures that the risks of fires or shock are kept to nearly 0%.

Battery Storage

Once we’ve installed battery storage into a home, we also do a few things. First, we double-check all of our wiring, ensuring it’s clean and there is no risk of any problems when we’ve left. Second, the client needs to know basic level maintenance for their battery storage. Chances are they won’t have to do much with it; however, they need to know what to look out for if there are any early signs of exposed wires or worse.

If you need renewable energy solutions and want a trusted company that puts health and Safety first, give us a call. With a range of services, we can take our hand to most projects, working with you to find a solution.
